The Amrock :
The Amrock is an auto sexing bird in its own right and has the same parent birds as the Barred Plymouth Rock used in the majority of the auto sexing breeds. The main difference between the two is the size and shape; the Barred Plymouth Rock, in this country, was quickly developed for showing and was bred according to show standards whereas the Amrock was bred for utility and now is a better layer and eater in general.

The Amrock is a large bird and, in my experience, is bigger than its sister although shares the same gentle nature. I have not done an egg count yet but will post the results when I have them. They are friendly birds and easy to tame making them suitable for first time keepers. The cockerels have a double dose of barring making them appear lighter than the females who have black bars that are twice the width of the males
